The Museum Store offers a variety of thought provoking and beautiful items that highlight our city's rich heritage: hard-to-find books, historic images, jewelry made by local artists, educational books and vintage toys for children, museum and exhibition publications, as well as unique gifts.
Here is a collection of historic artistic portraits by early 1900's Santa Barbara photographers Carolyn and Edwin Gledhill, who operated the Gledhill Portraits photographic studio across from the famous waterfront Potter Hotel in 1907. From that prime location, they skilfully recorded many notable, and not so notable, personalities on their glass plate negatives. This collection provides photographic historians and enthusiasts alike with an exceptional example of "turn of the century" portrait photography. Also included in this book are reproductions of the first commercial color photographic, the Autochrome, introduced by the Gledhills in 1915.
